Special-effects artist Niels Nielsen makes his directorial debut with the award-winning indie romance Venus on the Halfshell. Jackie Zelinski is a smart, beautiful forest ranger who falls in love with free-spirited artist Hendrix O'Hara after rescuing him from a near-deadly motorcycle accident. But the couple's blossoming romance is soon threatened by the disapproval of their dysfunctional families, which includes Jackie's alcoholic father Sam and Hendrix's extremely jealous ex-wife Honey.
