French & Saunders is a British sketch comedy television show written by and starring BAFTA Award-nominee Dawn French and Emmy and BAFTA Award-winner Jennifer Saunders.

French & Saunders carried over six seasons and forty-six episodes up until late 2007. The show began humbly but immediately established its own niche as a spoof on other types of shows. In the first season it was set up to intentionally look like a low-budget variety show in which the two stars were constantly attempting grandiose stunts and often failing miserably.

As the series progressed and ratings skyrocketed the duo received higher and higher budgets with which to create elaborate parodies of mainstream culture. These ranged anywhere from recreations of films to spoofs on popular music artists. Certain spoken phrases and sight gags that referenced previously-performed sketches (often from years before) were incorporated for loyal fans. Another unique aspect to the show is that it was permeated by a sense of awareness at all times that the viewer was actually watching a parody. Unlike many parodies that are done in a straightforward manner for effect, French & Saunders uses the viewer's awareness of what is going on to further stretch out the joke.

The X Creatures was a television documentary series made by the BBC in 1998, which was broadcast in 1999 on BBC 1. It was presented by Chris Packham, and examined the possibility of the existence of cryptozoological creatures. Its name was a pun on the popular fictional television show, The X-Files. Each involved Chris Packham travelling to a certain place on Earth where the creature supposedly exists, and examining eye witness accounts, as opposed to searching for the creature.

Episodes

Yeti, Myths & Men - This episode looked at two hominid cryptids - the Yeti, also known as the Abominable Snowman from the Himalayas, and then the Orang Pendek from Sumatra.

Alien in the Abyss - This episode looked at a creature that is known to exist, despite the fact that at the time so little was known about it - the Giant Squid.

Loch Ness: Fathoming the Monster - A look at the legendary Loch Ness Monster from Loch Ness in Scotland. It also looks at the existence of a giant lizard - Megalania in Australia.

Shooting the Bigfoot - A look at Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch of North America. In particular, there was an attempt to debunk the Patterson-Gimlin film.

Big Cats in a Little Country - A look at the existence of big cats in the wild of England.

What Not to Wear originated on BBC Two in 2001, hosted by fashion gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine who also co-authored several fashion books based on the show. The first ever episode was broadcast on 29 November 2001.

Every episode features an "ambush" style confrontation and makeover of a woman, and sometimes a man who has been nominated by their friends as particularly unfashionable. The subject has their current fashion sense evaluated.

The presenters take particular regard to the participant's body-shape and self-image (with the help of a 360 degree mirror cabinet) and determine what will work best for them. The participant is then given £2000 to go shopping for a new wardrobe, which is supposed to be in accordance with the advice they have been given. Although they are free to spend how they wish, they are spied upon and counselled on the ways of fashion by the show's two hosts.

Trinny and Susannah were often known for their tactile behaviour with the participants and for frequently referring to breasts as "tits". They were also renowned for their direct comments on the show, where Trinny's comments have reduced some participants to tears, and Susannah once spontaneously pulled a female candidate's underwear down during filming as her knicker line was visible.

Synopsis

It is the most basic requirement of human survival - clean drinking water. Yet, about 1 billion people do not have access to it, 80% live in sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern and Southern Asia. About 4,500 children die every day because they have no clean drinking water. This three-part series looks at the dire state of the common people from India to Indonesia to Philippines and the problems they face in getting clean drinking water.

Women, Water & 10,000 Miles focuses on the story of one woman and a little girl who live in the most arid part of the Rajasthan state where the annual rainfall varies from 10 to 40 cm. It is quite often erratic, so much so that the entire rainfall of the year may fall on a single day and the rest of the year may be dry. In India, water is solely a woman’s problem. From the time she is able to walk, she learns that it is her job to find and get water for the entire household. In her lifetime, she would have walked more than 1,000 miles to get water.

Top Gear (in its original 30-minute format) was a car-based BBC television series produced by BBC Birmingham, broadcast from 1977 to 2001. It consisted of 30-minute magazine format programmes presented by a number of people, including Angela Rippon, Noel Edmonds, William Woollard, and latterly Jeremy Clarkson, reviewing new car models and other car-related issues such as road safety. Other features included classic car events and motorsport.

The show was relaunched in 2002. The new series format incorporates a number of major changes from the old show. The running time was extended to one hour and two new presenters were introduced: Richard Hammond and Jason Dawe, with James May replacing Dawe after the first series. The Stig, an anonymous masked racing driver, was introduced as the test driver. New segments were also added, including "Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car", "The Cool Wall", "Car News", "Power Laps", and one-off features such as races, competitions and the frequent destruction of caravans. The program is estimated to have 385 million viewers worldwide. In 2007, it was one of the most pirated television shows in the world.
